Friday Favorites – Word of the Week – Galumph

Turns out that scuttlebutt was a pretty popular word!  It certainly engendered some excellent conversation, including this gem from Kristan:

“So, what’s the scuttlebutt?” Commander Jones said to the sailors standing around the scuttlebutt.

They snapped to attention before one brave sailor replied, “Commander, sir. The scuttlebutt is this scuttlebutt is not working. Petty Officer Smith went to check the water supply in the scuttlebutt, Sir.”

Extra points for overuse, Kristan!  We vote yes.  This week, I’ve picked a similarly amusing word:

Galumph, intransitive verb: to move in a clumsy manner or with a heavy tread.

Galumph on over and share a sentence or two with us, why don’t you?

  1. That sounds like a cartoon song or something, you know. Galump da dump galump da dump…I can see it illustrating a walk for a character like Alice the Goon or something.
